Those renewing this permit must submit, in addition to the original and photocopy of this application form:

Documents to be submitted by foreign nationals:

  • Original and photocopy of a valid Passport or Certificate of Inscription.
  • Original and photocopy of the D.U of the residence permit and work permit exception.
  • Original and photocopy of support documents covering the following cases:
  1. Training and diplomas as a technician, teacher or scientist.
  2. Accreditation as a civil servant.
  3. Accreditation as a member of the clergy substantiated by the competent entity.
  4. Accreditation as a media correspondent or special envoy.
  5. Designation for participation in a specific international programme or scientific mission.
  6. Accreditation as a member of a representative body of a trade union.
  7. In the case of native born Spaniards, verbatim birth certificate.
  8. The guardianship of foreign minors accredited by the entity responsible for the protection of minors.

Documents to be submitted by the organisation or entity inviting, engaging, transferring or sponsoring the foreign national:

  • Original and photocopy of the CIF (fiscal identification card).
  • Original and photocopy of the contract, invitation or analogous document.
  • Descriptive report specifying the nature of the activity conducted.
  • In the case of administrative personnel or foreign teachers at cultural institutions, the original and photocopy of documents accrediting that the said institution is legally constituted and recognised by Spain and that diplomas are valid in the country of origin or are recognised internationally.
  • Original and photocopy of documents certifying that the church or religious denomination is inscribed at the Ministry of Justice’s Registry of Religious Organisations.

Application submission

Applications may be submitted at the Alien Office itself or in accordance with the proceedings laid down in Art. 38.4 of the Public Administrations (legal regime) and Common Administrative Procedure Act, Law 30/1992. Applications must be submitted during the 60 calendar days prior to the expiration of the authorisation. Application for authorisation renewal shall serve as a permit until a decision is taken in the proceeding. Renewal shall also be processed in the event that the application is submitted within the first three months following the expiration of the authorisation which is the object of renewal.

  • Current wording of Organic Law 4/2000 of 11 January (BOE of 12.01.00) on the rights and freedoms of aliens in Spain and their social integration.
  • Royal Decree 2393/2004 of 31.12.04 (BOE 07.01.05).

IMPORTANT NOTE: If the applicant is not a resident in Spain, the said foreign national must apply for the corresponding residency visa at the Spanish consular office corresponding to his/her place of residence and must attach all documentation required for each one of the cases of work authorisation exception laid down in Art. 68 of Royal Decree 2393/2004.
